Determination of ferric chloride in liquid phase EDC
The purpose of determining ferric chloride in liquid EDC (ethylene dichloride) is to avoid contamination of EDC and decrease risk of corrosion to production units.
Background
Ferric Chloride (FeCl3) is used as catalyst in the EDC reactor. The FeCl3 colors the EDC with a yellow / brown color which is measured with an opacimeter.
Typical measuring range
0 – 300 ppm FeCl3
