Determination of hydrogen chloride in liquid phase EDC
The purpose of determining hydrogen chloride in liquid EDC (ethylene dichloride) is to protect EDC against corrosion by HCl during transport or storage.
Background
All commercial available EDC must be free of Hydrogen Chloride (HCl) to prevent corrosion of the storage and handling equipment. For this reason it is advisable to monitor downstream the purification column the HCl concentration in EDC by ionic detection using conductivity.
Typical measuring range
0 – 10 ppm HCl
